1938 Born on September 19th in Warsaw.

 

1957 First Prize at the All-Polish Competition of Contemporary Piano Music in Lodz for the interpretation of Karol Szymanowski.

 

1962 M.A. in piano under Maria Wilkomirska, Academy of Music in Warsaw.

 

1964 M.A. in composition under Kazimierz Sikorski, Academy of Music in Warsaw.

 

1965 2nd Prize for String Quartet at the Competition for Young Composers of the Polish Composers' Union, Warsaw.

 

1966 First Prize at the International Gaudeamus Competition for Performers of Contemporary Music in Utrecht.

 

1967 Founded the Music Workshop ensemble which has performed contemporary music for over 25 years.

 

1970 Invited by the Cleveland State University to teach piano. Lectures and performances at various American universities.

 

1971 Tournée of 52 concerts with the Music Workshop in Scandinavia.

 

1973-74 Artist in Residence in West Berlin at the invitation of DAAD (Deutscher Akademischer Austauschdienst).

 

1974 Lectures at the Internationale Ferienkurse in Darmstadt.

 

1975 Awarded the Silver Cross of Merit by the Council of the State, Poland.

 

1978 Awarded Prize for the best film score at the All-Polish TV Contest.

 

1979

Awarded the Medal of Distinction by Jeneusses Musicales of Poland.

Master Classes for composers at the International Summer Courses of Jeneusses Musicales.

 

1980 Elected President of the Polish Society for Contemporary Music.
